A powerful exploration of identity, resistance and the courage to speak out, from an acclaimed, award-winning writer.

Shortlisted for the Edwin Morgan Poetry Award, Let Me Tell You This is a striking collection from Nadine Aisha Jassat, author of The Stories Grandma Forgot, The Hidden Story of Estie Noor and The House at the Edge of the World.

Moving between the personal and the political, these poems explore heritage, belonging and womanhood, confronting racism and gender-based violence while celebrating the strength found in solidarity and connection. Fierce, tender and unflinchingly honest, they give voice to experiences too often silenced, revealing both the wounds inflicted by prejudice and the restorative power of relationships between women.

With lyrical precision, emotional intelligence and an unmistakable voice, Let Me Tell You This is a compelling collection about challenging injustice, reclaiming one’s story and finding the courage to be heard.

‘A punchy, powerful debut’ — Jackie Kay
