The Giving Green book bundles offer you the opportunity to buy a book alongside a donation to Open Spaces Society and Greenspace Scotland – two charities that work to protect public rights of way and open green spaces in the United Kingdom, such as common land, village greens and urban parks.

The books come gift-wrapped with a personalised postcard, so the recipient knows a donation has been made in their name. Alternatively, the voucher option lets the recipient choose a book themselves on receipt of their card and voucher.

Saraband founder and MD Sara Hunt says:

“We have published books on nature and conservation for many years to inspire and help spread the word that our planet needs protecting from devastating human impact. By now no one doubts that the situation is urgent, and we all need to act. But the pandemic has also underlined how important it is for our health and wellbeing to have access to nature and green spaces. We’re delighted to partner with two excellent organisations that exist to promote both these crucial causes. We hope that people will enjoy giving the gift of reading this Christmas, while helping others to savour and protect our precious green spaces.”

Open Spaces Society’s General Secretary Kate Ashbrook says:

“The Open Spaces Society, Britain’s oldest national conservation body, fights to conserve and promote our environment by protecting paths and open spaces, throughout England and Wales, for all to enjoy. With no public funding we rely on donations, subscriptions and legacies to support our vital work. We are delighted to have been chosen by Saraband as partners in their Christmas fundraising initiative.”

Greenspace Scotland’s Chief Executive Julie Procter says:

“Greenspace Scotland is Scotland’s parks and greenspace charity. Parks and greenspaces make a huge difference to all of our lives. Connecting us with nature close to home, they are our natural health service, our children’s outdoor classrooms, the green lungs of our towns and cities. We work with a wide range of partners to ensure that everyone can enjoy access to good quality local greenspaces and so we are delighted to have been selected by Saraband as partners in their Christmas fundraising initiative.”

Readers can select from a range of fiction and non-fiction titles including Graeme Macrae Burnet’s Case Study, J.A. Mensah’s Desmond Elliott Prize-longlisted Castles from Cobwebs, Jim Crumley’s Lakeland Wild and Roy Dennis’s Mistletoe Winter – of which James Fair said in BBC Countryfile on its companion volume, ‘I can’t think of a more important book that’s been written about British wildlife in the past 20 years’.
