Saraband and The Bakehouse Present ‘A Gift to Care Homes’ for Book Week Scotland
Posted on November 10, 2020
We have partnered with The Bakehouse Community Arts to create a film for care home residents during Book Week Scotland, in the hope that we can spread a little joy this winter. Thank you to Scottish Book Trust for making this possible. The film features a selection of writers and performers sharing stories, poetry and songs – including Gyles Brandreth, Tony Bonning, Annette Badland and Saraband authors Chris Dolan and Olga Wojtas.
Act 1: A Letter to My Younger Self
The Bakehouse Community Arts brings you a feast of poetry and related songs residents have enjoyed when younger. Singer and performer Tony Bonning performs songs and poems alongside Scottish-based writers, reading poems loved by older family or friends.
Act 2: A Night of Song and Story
Saraband Books brings you stories, poetry and songs to warm hearts and make residents smile as the nights get colder. Authors Olga Wojtas and Chris Dolan (accompanied by Moira Levin) share stories and poetry, and actor Annie Grace reads some classic Burns poetry. The readings are accompanied by traditional music from Chris Dolan, Kirsty Grace, Annie Grace, Karine Polwart and Corinna Hewa.
If you would like to share the film at a specific care home (perhaps you work there or know a resident) please contact aisling@saraband.net.
