Olga Wojtas longlisted for Comedy Women in Print Prize 2020
Posted on April 20, 2020
We are delighted to announce that Olga Wojtas’ Miss Blaine’s Prefect and the Vampire Menace has been longisted for the Comedy Women in Print Published Comic Novel Prize 2020, following on from her 2019 listing for Miss Blaine’s Prefect and the Golden Samovar. (Especially lovely news to receive during lockdown.)
If you haven’t read it yet, then you’re in luck for two reasons:
1. You have a lot of laughter and joy to look forward to. 2. It’s available to buy from our online shop.
We think Undiscovered Scotland’s review says it all:
“Let’s set out the headlines first.Β Miss Blaine’s Prefect and the Vampire MenaceΒ by Olga Wojtas is thoroughly enjoyable, utterly bonkers and quite unlike anything you’ll ever have read before. Actually, the last of those isn’t quite true. Anyone who’s read the author’sΒ Miss Blaine’s Prefect and The Golden SamovarΒ will have a pretty good idea of what to expect. It says a lot for Olga Wojtas’s ability to entertain that we remember that earlier book very clearly despite the passage of two years: when many other sometimes excellent books we’ve read in the meantime are much more prone to have blurred together in the memory. You are not going to confuse aΒ Miss Blaine’s Prefect…Β book with anything else.”
Sharing the longlist shelf with Olga are:
Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams
Big Girl, Small TownΒ by Michelle Gallen
Christmas ShopaholicΒ by Sophie Kinsella
The NurseryΒ by Asia Mackay
The Blessed GirlΒ by Angela Makholwa
The FlatshareΒ by Beth OβLeary
So LuckyΒ by Dawn OβPorter
Reasons to be CheerfulΒ by Nina Stibbe
Are We Nearly There Yet?Β by Lucy Vine
In the Crypt with a CandlestickΒ by Daisy Waugh
The Bookish Life of Nina HillΒ by Abbi Waxman
Diary of a Confused FeministΒ by Kate Weston
FrankisssteinΒ by Jeanette Winterson
CONGRATULATIONS to all the other longlisted authors.
We’re sure the jury are going to have a tough time calling this one!
